  1. Can someone please provide me with the correct measurements for a 3/4" split cross. Tks.
  2. What kind of gloves does everyone use. I'm looking for heat protection with leather palms. Not interested in long welding gloves. I have a pair $8 that I added a leather palm and they work pretty good. Just seeing what others are using.
  3. Purchased a small 1 burner stainless steel forge on line. Work well for me with the exception of the insulation deterioration over time so I built a 1 burner brick forge using the original burner from the first forge. I really like it. The only thing different is the position of the burner. The original burner was almost flush with the insulation on the inside. The burner was a challenge to mount being it's ss so it is currently recessed maybe 3/4" into the brick. I think the brick forge gets much hotter. My dilemma is that when lit it develops a little popping. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Not finished

This works good for now. I'm adding a larger table. Also fetching ideas to keep it from moving. Anchoring the floor is not an option. I move it to our summer home.
  5. Starting with 1/4" round and forging the point over the edge of the anvil I noticed the tips are cracked or split. Is it to hot comfort of the gas forge or could it be from working to cold?
  6. Can you recommend a supplier for the bricks. Thanks
  7. So if I use the recommended materials there's no need for a blanket or concerns with air born partials. Correct. Thanks a bunch.
  8. I'm currently using a 1 burner Simon forge lined with a k-wool blanket with coating supplied by the manufacturer and would like to build a brick forge. No need for forge welding. I Forge mostly ornamental. Can my new forge be built without blanket installation. I don't want to deal with the particle issue.
  9. When forming the head it leans to one side. I might mention that the 1/4" rod is a little loose in the tool that holds the blank.
  10. I need the measurements to forge a split cross using 3/8" sq. bar. Tks
