  1. Masashige brand chisels are hand forged by Masataka Miyawaki, a government-certified blacksmith who has been making chisels almost 60 years and is located in Miki City, Hyogo prefecture. Hollow on the back of the blade. You can see the forge of the high carbon with low carbon steel hollow gram. Pictures don't do the chisel justice but that's the craftsmanship I would like to follow.
  2. Here is my station and chisels sets. Resolution sucks but i thought id share a bit of what makes me, me. My first project after i get the basics down will be a Japanese style chisel
  3. Finishing, polishing, honing, sharpening, stropping, techniques, tips and tricks, for chisels, V&U gouges, knives, straight razors, jigs.
  4. VaughnT Thank you this information helped me alot! Now i can get to work!
  5. Oi! Ladies and Gents! newB here. My concern is about several leaf spring i found on a pile dive. How does one find out what kind of steel it is. I believe they came from trucks but I really have no way of knowing. I have 2 leg vises with missing parts the main one is the spring. Also from what i gathered on this topic(PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG) I should try cold forming the spring and if it doesn't work then air cool temper? thank you in advanced from Oakland Deivi
