  1. I think the key here is to occasionally clean and re-lube. Not so much what the lube is.
  2. I use electrolysis a lot. Well worth getting into! Just make sure you get a manual battery charger. I just use a old pipe for the sacrificial anode and dump in the washing soda (I don't even measure it!) I have had stunning results! I actually look for old iron stuff to electrolysis dip!
  3. I am in Waldoboro, Boothbay is fairly close to me. I would appreciate any leads you may have on a anvil.
  4. Thank you all for the warm welcome everyone. I am excited to start learning. Thank you petere76 for the info on The New England School of Metalwork. I will for sure look into this as well as the association. Now I just need to find an anvil somewhere and get going!
  5. Hello everyone I am from mid coast Maine and I just recently picked up a old Buffalo Forge riveters forge and am in the process of cleaning and repainting it. I am getting very interested in blacksmithing and am looking forward to getting started!
  6. The forge looks sweet! I just picked one up just like it except mine has a heat shield instead of the hood. I am disassembling the blower to clean and repaint everything but I can't seem to separate the blower housing from the gear box housing. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?
