  1. Thanks! I'm in upstate NY right now. Not too far from Albany, just over the VT border. I'd like to plug into a local group if there are any around, even over in VT or MA.
  2. Hey all. I've been a member here for a while, but have gotten away with life. I have a daughter now, she just turned one year, and life is new again. I shoe horses for a living, as well as make custom Vaquero style gear. I've been wanting to get back into blacksmithing for a while. There is a local Farmers Market here in the summer and I'd like to sell there if I can. Just getting plugged back in to refine my attempts at creating functional art.
  3. Horses are my bread and butter. When I'm not shoein them, I'm carving leather, and braiding cowhide for them. My wife trains them, and teaches leassons, so without the, we'd be nothing! When you think about it, without the horse, civilization as we know it would be nothing. Something to think about...
  4. I have one. I'm making another to match with the curl coming off of the opposite branch. my first attempt at making anything artistic out of steel, so let me know what you think.
  5. hello all. i've been lurking here for a while. i'm new to blacksmithing, and i would love to get into it more. i have a whisper baby forge, and a cliff carol anvil and a nice avil stand. it's all designed for farrier work (that supports my other habits), but it gets the job done. i am a farrier by trade, been on my own for about 10 months, and i love the forgeing shoe part of it. lots of fun. so i'm hoping to learn as much as i can here. thanks in advance for any tips that you all will give me (i've got alot to learn.) ~ollie
