Joe,
Had only a couple of minor problems with the hammer itself. Documentation /manual very poorly written . Motor at first would throw the breaker after running only a few seconds. I felt the outside of the wires and the breaker and the wires were not getting hot, so I just kept staring it. After about 6-7 starts it ran without kicking the breaker off. I guess it just needed to get the oil into the cylinder and ram. l Then the motor ran counter clockwise instead of clock wise. After I convinced them I had wired the motor correctly, they sent me a schematic for the motor and I just changed a couple of jumper bars and fixed it in about five minutes. The other problem was oil flow. The oil just poured through the machine. I was afraid to tighten it to much for fear I would cut the flow down too much. They said take a wrench and tighten it down. It is doing a lot better now.
Getting it imported was a little more of a head ache. I used a customs broker and they were not very good in my opinion. They did not keep notes on what we discussed, So they were constantly calling and asking me about things we had already discussed. They basically wanted me to do the work, and pay them for it. I would just handle all of that myself if I were doing it again.
The machine seems to hit hard and move steel very quickly. It is much easier to control than a mechanical hammer like a little Giant. My sales rep Tina, Zhoa was helpful and easy to deal with. Knowing what I know I would go with Ellsen again. I got my 20kg hammer with a single phase 2.2 kw motor with 3 sets of dies including customs, shipping to my door with insurance for $3500 USD. If you decide to get one ask Ellsen to quote you shipping to your door. It is cheaper that way or at least it is in the US.
