Hi Shamus and LastRonin both not realy right close tho , Centre of heart has been textured with a punch i made on a piece of quarter rod useing a checkering file to make the pattern on punch face then hardened so i could texture the heart .. Making the steel look a bit used i wiped it over with a bit of hydrocloric and fuming nitric acid what stayed in the heart patinaed it hope that explains it . Chris
Hi there Frosty glad you like the end one i anealed drilled and rehardened left as quenched virtualy may work as a fire striker but not sure havent tryed it Chris
Thought i better put a haft on the other head and finnish off us walnut , leather wrap ,horse tail drop with beading ,jingle cones and feathers used look with bit of scratching Chris
Hi Mad Max sure not aussie with that name lol . The idea useing the rasp is to leave the burs as is no touching in the shaping and forging and welding easy the other way . Thank you glad you like Chris
Hi Kent tell your son with whats in this pic just a simple hammer and chisel you could make all your self for vertualy nothing .
hammer i made from a piece of 52100 but any carbon steel will do . mild maybe a bit soft .handles from square stock ,
chisels are high speed steel
best to draw out pic first then trace on because if you start drawing on the steel and your not quit centre have to rub of and do again and maybe again and again saves swearing lol
somtimes use gun blue in cuts and just clean surface off .hope this helps
Chris
