  1. I think it it may have been their Knife edge file or an employee project that got away from them and mixed in with the batch . they are most likely harden as a file I would check it before going too far with it .IMHO
  2. 108 views , & No one Knows Anything about Him ? Hmmm
  3. you should be able to get one local at Wally World or local Watch Shop if it is a "lithium ion" the (Best you can get) it will out last the hood . I wish you well and a fast recovery . By the way GO GET YOUR EYES CHECKED OUT ! ! You only have two if you do not take care of them they cannot take care of you Brother ! While it may have been a mild burn ( to you a bad one ) you should get your eyes checked out by an Optometrist (Eye Doctor) and make sure there is No Permanent Damage to your eyes and a good time to see if you need Glasses too . Best Regards & Blessings Brother Ivan
  4. Yesterday I had the Awesome Pleasure of meeting "Victor Martine" Known for the hosting Las Vegas Blade Show and a few others as well as helping New Blade Makers Get off the ground . I had a Very Good time chatting with him and enjoyed his company. I Now have the opportunity to get some of my work in his hands for "inspection" and his "Friends" for Possible sales and future Commissions. it turned out to be a very good Day. So the question of the Day is have any of the Elder, MS, JS, Bladesmiths Or other folks Heard or know much about Victor Martine ? Best Regards & Blessings PS Yes, I know for sure it is the same one of the "Las Vegas Family Casino Owners"
  5. Brother Ivan Have you had a chance to inspect the hood as suggested for damage lens and sensors or sensors being covered by weld spatter ?
  6. I know you keep busy Wayne I had a good laugh thinking about you sittin in one place for very long . Anyway we are just about to wrap up with our Homeschooling next week and should have some time free very soon I look forward to meeting up with you and hopefully Matt as well .
  7. Big Dr. at 6 to 8 , I could use 4 Pc to complete the project. (that is if you will part with them ) just mill them and put them together .
  8. There are a ton of reasons for getting "ark eyes" and listed above are several and you listed one in one of your post's as well the hood is three years old,has a battery that is solar charged to maintain the millisecond response time to the ark flash .Yes it is possible for the Battery to die even though you have used it everyday for three years . when you can see once again and good inspect the censer cells for the flash(Do Not clean the outer lens just yet) if either one is covered you have found the issue ! if not continue on with the inspection . the solar cell Very Very Closely at an angle to see if it has any waves Or cracks in it, that would indicate it has been compromised the same with the lens inspect it with a white light it will show through you may need to do this in a dark room and put the hood on keep the light to the front of the hood and try different angles around the lens if you see white light in the hood it is toast .
  9. Correct I will have to do a bit of cleaning on it when it gets home Thomas and a good rubbing with some chalk and eyeing to get all the information I can "see" so far everything I have got and posted has been from and over the phone from the current owner I will have it at home this weekend and be able to give it a good look over .

  12. The # on it is: "06095" sorry i thought I put it in my post the feller rubbed chalk in the numbers after he took the photo . The one mark looks like an O with a tick off to the side of it making it look like an foreign "Q" It has been commented that this anvil is "it is a mark by Columbus Forge and Iron works for a wholesaler in St. Louis. These are very good anvils, though; the house brand name is Trenton. If it was made after 1927 it will have a forged top half arc welded to a mild steel base. If prior to then it'll be a standard steel-faced wrought anvil." This Quote comes from a very Respected Smith and Archeologist with in the Community . I am Set to pick up the Anvil None the less in a few days . so it will be mine !

  14. One can also leave the rod in the freezer over night and give the square block a good heating before putting them together the frozen rod in theory would them slide in much like a Bearing race in a hub . just a thought .

  21. It was used in weight lifting competition in NOLA and for Blacksmithing as well in the early 1900's . Here is the quote and reference I utilized for the anvil in question as it fit for the one in question I am looking at getting . http://www.usawa.com/tag/anvil/
  22. this is what I have found so far about the anvil : The Anvil had what looked to be a “V” or inverted pyramid and a large “M” on the other side. I did some research and found out this was a historically significant anvil. It was a “Columbian” which were manufactured in Cleveland, Ohio from about 1903 to 1925. They were the first anvils to be “Cast Steel” in one solid piece. Evidently this made them very tough compared to the “Wrought Iron” Anvils made before that were welded from pieces into one Anvil. They were very popular in their time and while the “Cast” or “tool” or “Crucible” type steel was very expensive it required less labor to finish and it was around this time labor was becoming more expensive than materials so they really took off. This particular Anvil is of the “London Pattern” and it would be valued at 2-4 bucks a pound….but to me it’s priceless! They made these from increments in10lbs to 800lbs
