  1. I've got a sheared one, 2 torch cut, a break, and my personal favorite my 3 thats got a punched eye where the leg should be to bolt through the "leg".
  2. Thats awesome! Do you use a propane or coal forge to weld in?
  3. The blade looks subtle and sleek, the handle and your bolster are nice lines. The wire-brushed wood is something I'm going to try very soon
  4. Any other opinions on a Majestic Forge?
  5. Found a custom Majestic forge pretty close nearby for a good price, was wondering if they're any good?
  6. The rider on those clamps when flung can lop off large chunks of finger meat if it catches your hand inbetween the divots
  7. I have one of them in 3.5 and another in I believe around 2. Thought it had something to do with possibly alter the impact or something. Explains why they were with climbing spikes and a riggers harness
  8. A vise similar to this one sold on ebay awhile back for close to $600 I believe
  9. YEAH! That kinda thing! I even know who has one with a busted base casting!
  10. That'd work too. I'm thinking about (my workbench is wood, looking to make a metal one) to make a sleeve that the leg peice fits into, putting that into a monstrouse bolt or something and making it height adjustable height
  11. Picked it up at an auction for $10. Works like a champ, jaws line up perfect, theres just two problems. One is that someone cut something with a torch in its jaws and cut into and a small peice off of the jaws, and cut a foot of the leg off. (I figure it was welded to a table by the foot and bolted by the bracket) Its even got the bracket (Indian Chief), I'll post some pictures as soon as I find my camera. Will it hurt it if I build up the corner with weld, and file it to suit and hot fit a peice of pipe to make the leg the original length?
  12. Looks like one of my stashed Peter Wrights, but it looks like the Indian Chief that I picked up yesterday.
  13. 66 and a 68, $225 and $325 sale price. Anvil went for $325, bought a 5 1/4 inch indian cheif for $10, 4 pairs of tongs for $50 (expenisve, but they're the ones I needed), buggy s[ring to make a few vise springs, and a HIgh-Jet acetylene setup for $20. (Its for AC work, its just straight acetylene, no O2)
  14. I don't think it'll work. Actions a little loose on the worn one. I had a buddy offer me a 94 Ranger edition with saddle scabbard and shells
  15. The anvil weighs 109.75 (On an odl un-calibrated Hobart scale thats been moved 5+times). Its the exact same as the anvil I have, even has the same defect in the casting on the face above the table. Over all its in B shape, didn't check the vise, tongs are all good and line up right, few hammers. Gonna be a good day Saturday
  16. I figured out what was wrong with it finally. (Soemthign I should've checked first off) The clearance adjusting bolts for the bronze gear was almost completely loose allowing the shaft to not contact the screw drive. shes fixed now, but shes harder to turn than my other Champion 400 (Made before 1921), btu that ones bronze gear was worn to paper thin teeth, this blower on the other hand has absolutely no wear on the gears, (its missing the wooden handle), and had the remains of a gasket inbetween the fan housing shells
  17. http://www.millerauctions.net/images/DSC_0190_640x426_.jpg heres the other
  18. I'm going for the rifle, possibly the anvil if it weighs mroe than 100, tongs definitly, and the giant mallet, because I'm kind of eccentric and its just awesome. And I take it Winchester 94's a great gun? They have 2 of them
  19. http://www.millerauctions.net/images/DSC_0011_640x426_2.jpg http://www.millerauctions.net/images/DSC_0010_640x426_2.jpg http://www.millerauctions.net/images/DSC_0021_426x640_2.jpg http://www.millerauctions.net/images/DSC_0028_800x532_.jpg for size reference of everything http://www.millerauctions.net/images/DSC_0036_800x532_.jpg I'll go to $10 on each pair of tongs, I need some more, and I suck at making them http://www.millerauctions.net/images/DSC_0192_640x426_.jpg and the black receivered lever actions what I really, really want going up on the block this weekend. Price for me if you would, I don't want an anvil, but it it goes cheap I'll be in
  20. Wayne Goddards book is a great read. I by no means am a pro knife maker, but I've made knives in a multitude of ways, completely forged accept for sharpening (coal and propane never again to much tediousness), made one on a friends belt grinder start to finish, was really sweet, just liked a forged blade a bit better, hand filed one from stock and h.t. with torch and polished with stones and strops, Harbor Freight 1 by 30, very usefull for handles and on small thin width stock, (I added a leather backer to my flat platen), and forged to shape and ground down. Gives you basically unlimitless possibilities if your handy with and angle grinder and flap wheels. I personally like grinding due to the possibities to make the same thing almost the same everytime. (Some can forge that way, I cannot).
  21. Any value of an medium size edwards shear?
  22. I'll mess with the blower tomorrow afternoon, I got caught up with my knife pile
