  1. Thanks John! I look forward to the picture! This is one of those things I never knew existed, now I can see it as a permanent addition to my sales table someday. What a great conversation starter..
  2. Wow, that's an excellent idea, and I love the videos! (I especially like the fast motion!) Unfortunately, I do not have a power hammer (it looks like fun!) so i'd have to do it the hard way. That would require a lot of hammering and forge time. I wonder if this could be made from a piece of black pipe, cut and shaped? Hmmmm...
  3. I like the sling shot idea, but I wonder if using a RR spike would be too may be a bit heavy for my soon to be 7 year old. Please post a pic when you finish it!
  4. Ditto on the opener comments! I may need to try that idea myself.
  5. I just noticed the widest side of the card holder is on the top of the one you built, but in the diagram it looks like they folded the "arms" of the holder down so the smaller edge is on top. I wonder if doing it that way would decrease the couch look if that's a concern. (I think it's still a great idea either way!)
  6. Looks like you're not the only one finding treasure! I never find anything cool... :( http://irisharchaeology.ie/2014/09/viking-blacksmiths-grave-uncovered-in-norway/
  7. Maybe it's used to make horseshoes for horses with Lordosis! Thomas, i'd like to see some pics of that wall!
  8. Maybe you need to share the link... you know, just so we can help you look of course....
  9. Momatt- that's an awesome opener. I liked the bulldog design, but being an owner of many schnauzers over the years I love the way yours looks. The way you cut into the sides of the nose is a great idea, consider it stolen!
  10. GAH! My first thought was to knock over the flaming coal forge onto it, and kill it with fire. I have no idea what's in my garage/shop, but it's been nesting somewhere for over a year now. All my paper towels and rags have been chewed and stolen, I've found piles if acorn and nutshells in wierd places (inside our summer chair bags, etc.) and the place smells like a pet shop. I tell myself it's cute little bunny or squirrel, but it's probably some pesky wood mice. (Still better to have them than having a xxxxxxxx snake lurking around, in my opinion!)
  11. I actually hadn't thought of that. This must have been a workout on hills, no gearing system, one speed, all muscle power.
  12. This incredible bike has been on display at the hospital I work at for awhile now, but I just got the opportunity to grab some pictures of it. I beleive it's on loan from the Farmer's Museum in Cooperstown. (Where I got my first taste of Blacksmithing.) I tried to get some good shots of the details (Like the acorn pedal weights, and the braking system) but it's encased in a plexi glass case, so I had some problems with reflections. If you can't tell from the pics, everything you see is made of metal. I'm sure there was something covering the seat and wheel rims at one point in time, but now it's a bare metal. It'd probably kill you trying to ride it, but it's still an awesome looking project!
  13. I like those Matt! Simple design, yet easily clipped onto a belt! Nice job on the colors too, I need to practice mine. :(
  14. That's a bit harsh, you make it sound as if she saw something sparkly and wanted to touch it. Accidents happen, that's why they're called accidents. People make mistakes, machines fail, the world is an imperfect place.
  15. I have a chance of getting a used one, and have never heard of them. They look nice and it says they're good on fuel, but I'd like to hear from anyone who has actually used it what they think. I'll be using it for small stuff, skewers, key chains, hooks, etc. Using search turned up nothing. Thoughts?
  16. Nicely done. I like the hardy you have for veining, is that just a piece of round stock folded over and welded? I have never seen that before, I always use the fold and unfold method for the center vein. Thanks!
  17. That's tin? That's awesome! I want one! Wasn't there someone here who had an anvil pillow? it was a foam one I think, looked real enough...
  18. I don't see any other videos, is this a series, or just the one? From Franks post it sounds like this man has passed away, is this an old clip?
  19. She said he was working the bellows, but it looked like he was manning a hand crank. (the bellows were above though...) Seems like a nice guy, I'd like to share some conversation sweet tea with him!
  20. You hand out tetanus shots on Halloween... You use your tobacco spit cup as a quench for scroll tips... When you see a NASCAR crash, you immediately start to think of what you could make from the wreckage?
