Thanks for the info DennisG. I know some people that work at Elkvalley Coal in the Crowsnest Pass, so perhaps I will try there. What is the best type of coal to use for forging? I might have to try going to Leduc sometime, I would really like to meet others that are in the art. Thanks again

Hi, I have recently started blacksmithing with a friend of mine, and we want to use coal for fuel. Charcoal is too expensive, and we want to be as traditional as possible. Does anybody know any coal distributors in central Alberta? I've heard from farmers in the area that use it for heat that it goes for about $45/ton, but not sure where to get it. A smaller supplier would be preferable, as in being able to go and buy a few 1/2 ton truck loads. I am located about 1 1/2 hours north of Calgary and 45 min east of Olds, so someone fairly local would be optimal. Thanks
