Hi there I have an old camper from the late 1970's. I located the VIN number on the trailor tongue, but due to years of weathering on it, the number is very light and almost not readable. Is there anything that I can put on it to make it easier to read or bring out the numbers better. Many thanks to all. Shane

I need to crack Butternuts. Does anyone have a pic or an idea how to make a extreme heavy duty nutcracker to use on butternuts? Any and all help is much appreciated.

I was using just a mild steel. Is there any way to add carbon to the steel to make it harder?

I built 3 Colonial Style Flint Strikers yesterday in the forge. When I strike them against my piece of flint, they won't make a spark. Any ideas what the problem is and how to fix it. I am thinking the steel might not be hard enough. Thanks to everyone.

Thank you all for the advice. I left it along. Today, I built a saddle for it out of 1" steel plate that sits on top of it. That way, I can just pull it off when not needed. Thanks again to everyone.

I have a steel anvil that has all of the edges either rounded or broke off from years of use or misuse. I am not sure which. What is the best way to fix it? Is it better to add weld to the edges and reshape or add a 1" thick steel plate to the top of it? I have never had anything like this done and I don't want the anvil to get tore up. Thank you all in advance.
