The Peel River Artist Blacksmiths have been unable to accept invitations from the organisers of the Kootingal Pumpkin Festival to do forging demonstrations at their festival day in the past, but this year we took up their invitation. Look out Kooty, too late, the Blacksmiths have been and gone. What a day it was, what a crowd in attendance and a big thanks to our members that did the setting up and the non-stop rolling demonstrations throughout the day. You would be hard to please if you did'nt enjoy yourself, it could not have been better. It never ceases to amaze how the smell of fire and the clunk of hammer on hot iron draws people like flies to honey. Below is a few pics of the action.
  3. Hi Chuck and welcome from Australia, I like the nice flowing lines on this sculpture very nice and was wondering what it would weigh also is that a bowling ball or a metal ball, cheers John. :)
  4. Nice looking tool box Fe-Wood,I find that steel tools in a wooden box don't get surface rust on them as quick when they haven't been used for a while.
  5. Our April meetings will be held at 109 Peel St Tamworth, anyone needing directions can phone 02)6761-2779 where our friendly craft shop attendants will be pleased to assist. The dates are Saturday 10th and 24th, Sunday 11th and 25th. "O" boy, April here already this year is flying, President Jim made the long trip south to get a load of coke for us over the long weekend so we've got enough fuel for the next year - big thanks Jim for giving up your holiday weekend for us. The craft centre extension plans are at council for approval so we will be calling for a members' working bee to clear up the areas for the building works in the near future. We forge on the 2nd and 4th weekends every month opening hours for members are 8.30am till 4.00pm. Visitors are welcome from 10.00am, so if you have questions, want to watch or you would like to join come on in for a look. The dates are Saturday 13th & 27th, Sunday 14th & 28th, We had good member attendance in February with the weather cooling for Autumn so bring in your projects and start forging. We are open for members 8.30am till 4.0pm. Visitors from 10.0am, so if you just want to watch or you would like to join, you will be most welcome we are always looking for new members with or without experience. :unsure:

  14. Hi all, hobby for around 15yrs, I belong to the Peel River Artist Blacksmith group Tamworth, love doing demo's at nursing homes to entertain our seniors. (as per my photo) cheers John

Jim has asked to remind all about the invitation from the machinery group to attend their show next month (March 13th & 14th) at the rodeo grounds at Moonbi, to demonstrate & sell our wares, those interested should contact him for details at our shed 109 Peel St Tamworth on 13th or 14th of February. We would like to extend an open invitation to blacksmiths out there (local & travellers) to call in and make themselves known.   18. Hi, for all those interested in the Tamworth group, it's called "The Peel River Artist Blacksmiths" & we work out of a large craft centre of around 250 members. The blacksmith group membership runs around 20 or so & meets every second & fourth weekend on both Saturday & Sunday from 8.30am to 4.00pm.
