  1. Hi TravisF! On this forum the only guy i know who had a Murray power hammer is "Dillon Sculpture". Send him a message. this hammer seems to be in great shape but for a price to bet, i don't know. good luck!
  2. Check on this web page. http://www.newenglandblacksmiths.org/power_hammer_info.htm This page give me a lot of information for the building of my power hammer. Thierry
  3. I'm a professional welder. I have learn the techniques to weld cast iron with smaw and oaw. I'm agree with ciladog but you have to pre-heat and keep the welding zone hot during all the process (beetween each pass) and tempered down very slowly with some refractory material like. 50 celsius degrees on 1 hours to optimized the weld link. If your not sure to do it, ask a professional welder, but don't expect him about some guarantees about the solidity of the work. Because the cast iron is not destinated to be welded, it's only a repair and it's never done a good fusion beetween the rod material (smaw= ni-rod). In time it will be crack again near to the link zone. Yes you don't have lot to lose in trying.
  4. You have a beautiful machine. I don't have a manufactured mechanical power hammer, but i built one! This document help me a lot for the shape and sizes of pieces than i have to do. http://www.newenglandblacksmiths.org/power_hammer_info.htm

Anvil is made by a 10 inch steel shaft, you can see the huge key hole, his weight: 518 pounds. The hammer Just wait to be installed correctly to be effective.
  10. Hammer head with main shaft, key hole on it. The crank disc and the flywheel.
  11. Ram guide is this flat bars of steel machined with v groove and welded on each side of flanges h-beam. They are 1 inch ¼ thick by 19 inchs long. I have drilled two hole in each plate aligned with the groove center to install grease valves. Two 1 inch steel square bars welded on each side of the ram and it's slide well.
