  3. I live and work alone in a rural area. I have the cell with me at all times and also have a "Life line" necklace to call help if needed. ( Mom insisted) . I just have to be able to hit the button on the necklace. Finnr /Art
  4. Any child in need has my prayers. I'll send em out for her!! Finnr
  5. It's sad to hear of your loss Bob. Take comfort in your memories and take the love you had for her and cherish it. Mom's are very special folks. Finnr/ Art
  6. Welcome to the forum . Be warned that one tool just isn't enough!!! That's the fun of the craft. You can make the tools to make the tools. Looks like you came out pretty well on the Peter wright. My 115 is a bit more like Jayco's, needs a bit of TLC when I find time. Enjoy! Finnr
  7. Prayers go with you and for your Mom as well. Finnr
  8. Shooting cost me a good part of my hearing so now to blacksmith I just turn my hearing aids off. They make excellent ear plugs. Finnr

  18. That's insane! I bought a 115# PW and a 124# Wilkinson today for three hundred for the pair. I don't need an anvil shaped watch fob at that price! Finnr
  19. I just wire brush stuff, make it clean ans usable and oil the metal lightly. The top tools you can re handle with seconds, no need for wedges. that big by large drill may be a keeper. I use mine all the time. For serious rust , there is a BP on using electricity to remove it that works slick! Finnr
  20. Good to have you here. Learning by doing is great!! Also connect with your local guild or club, those guys are a great fund of information, and from my experience darn nice guys as well. Finnr

  22. A Blacksmithing Primer Randy Mc Daniel ISBN 0-9662589-1-6 I found this to be an excellent book for a starting or intermediate smith. The illustrations in the book are clear simple Auto-CAD and Tutbo-CAD drawings. The information my McDaniel imparts is clear and complete with a great sense of humor. I would highly recommend this book to anyone starting out in smithing or teaching others the craft. Finnr
  23. I will be thinking of you for sure. Prayers go with you Duck. Finnr
