  1. 6" square of paper but I use charcoal.
  2. Would like pic of side view but could be early pipe wrench.
  3. Most dies were for sharpening plow shares. The bottom was larger than the top go to matching flat dies and use spring tools. As for rebuild at a class years ago a new spring was always the recomended thing. The pins will be crankshafted and holes worn oval. Ream the hole and make new pins to fit holes. There may be enough shims so you don't need to replied the habit if lucky. There are several videos on LG rebuilding.
  4. Snip the claws and make adze from the head. Clay Spencer always used ball pien hammers as punches and they are thin around the eye.

    fly press?

Punch press great for chiseling lines and decorations child not so good for hot forging.
  6. Adze have claw hammer style eye using a claw hammer makes the eye which is the most work making a hammer.
  7. Welcome check out Texas blacksmithing group to join nothing like hands on experience
  8. Don't use a ball pien use a claw hammer as it has a rectangle eye as an daze should cut off claws forge hammer into blade.
  9. That's why most of my hollow anvils and swage block have sold written with a paint pen as my friends liked to price them at $15 and I did not want to return to the table to find the $ and no anvil.
  10. Sat night they announced over 950 registered which was a record
  11. Tailgate is free but you must pay registration fee pre register is cheaper Some have trailer loads some a table, some a piece or 2 laying on ground and most have a can to leave payment.
  12. Location has a lot to do with price. That one appears to have sat out in weather for years. Unbolt bearing journals to see if shaft is pitted. Mickey mouse ears are upside-down on pitman shaft. How worn are ARM bearings, probably needs new spring. What does a tire hammer cost from Clay Spencer.
  13. Filming a class and demonstration of Gordon Williams who is from camp Verde, as but the demo is in Mn.
  14. Occasionally it likes to rain and get windy but we drive from Minnesota and would not miss it. I have seen anything from a rivet to a 200# steam hammer for sale. Some things cheap and a lot not so cheap but if you need something it may be there.
  15. RIP Rich it was a pleasure to know you.
  16. We drive from Minnesota arriving wed night about 8pm. Last year I bought a peter wright vise that night. We sometimes wait till Friday to set up the table we have the UMBA video library.
  17. I think demonstrations are 9 till noon on Sunday but like earlier poster said most Tailgate are packed up buy sat night. We are still there but may not put anything on table Sunday morning.
  18. Make the end to be struck taller than below the eye as the struck portion of the tool wears out first also don't make a struck tool too heavy as it takes too muck energy to make it work.
