I do keep my eyes open for something better than the HVAC duct. but its been there for about four years not with no problems. My chimney is straight through the roof so no elbows to corrode away.

I have 12" HVAC duct. yes it's galvanized metal but it doesn't get anywhere near hot enough to burn any of the coating off. It can be purchased locally at a HVAC supply house

Touch markes are punched in while the steel is hot. Are you talking about a yet to be made blade or an exsisting one.

I wouldn't waste my time or take the risk of modifiing a car gas tank. I rather use a rim or brakedrum. They don't go boom. :o

I've been told if the honey do list ever gets completed you die so i have no problem with that :)

The bar top is held in place with silicon adhesive and the iron is hald to the lower countertop with carrage bolts.

My wife saw something simular to this in a magazine and wanted a bar in our kitchen made the using ironwork to support a granit countertop. There wasn't a lot of forging involved but i did learn a lot about making a jig and trying to duplicate pieces. Also in some of the pictures some of my wifes holiday goodies on the countertop.

A simple meat turner was my first. I still have it.

Make sure those big flat washers are not zinc coated if you are going to heat them. Great work. Very unusual and cool gift idea.

I spent way too much time dressing the face of my 99 pound Peter Wright. When is started I used a cup rock on a slow turning grinder and then finished it by sanding. What I realized later when I read up on anvils was that I took out the crown the was built into the face of many of the old anvils. Now I have a flat smooth face but I regret taking the crown away.:mad: The point on the end of the horn was broken off on purpose on many anvils. Put the point back on and accidently walk into it and you will find out why. :o

Antifreeze can be flamible also. According to an msds sheet on ethelene glycol antifreeze the flash point is 250 degrees F. i actually know of someone having their eyebrows burned off by using a lighter to check coolant level. Point being know what you are dealing with.

Some medium duty diesel engines use 3" exhaust. I salvaged some 3" tubing from an old basketball goal post.

That's cool. I like to see a break from the traditional like that. I just wish i had the talent to come up with those kinds of idea's.

Back in the 40's a traveling salesman came through a farming comunity trying to sell a new miricle penatrating oil. He was trying his best to get an old farmer to buy some and told hime it was so good you could put it on a piece of rust metal one day and by the next it would penatrate though to the other side. So the salesman said how much would you like to buy?. the farmer said "I cant use any of that". The saleman replies "Why not?" The old farmer looks at the saleman and smile "I aint got anything to keep it in." I can't pass up a chance to tell that!!!! lol

I have a Lincoln SP-130 welder (the 230 volt model) that needs a moter/gear drive for the wire feeder. Does anyone know of a website the I could find it? I know if anyone knows it will be the people here.

Mines 24X30 with 10' walls. I could use more space....I'm planning to add a power ahmmer the fall and maybe a flypress later. My advise is to get a much building as you can afford.
