  1. Thank you for your responses :) I'm glad you like my work. I'll keep in mind that if in the future I should make another grate, I will use heavier sections. Thanks for that. About the roses, I don't think that they even need to be cleaned that often, because they stick out of the fireplace so they don't even get scale on them. Well, maybe the inner part of the rose does but then again it was black from the beginning. Also it doesn't hurt to take a brush and give them a sweep from time to time :) Also John, it's a really great idea you got there about andirons. I'll definitely make the next one like you suggested. So thank you for the idea.
  2. Hello everybody I made this fire grate for my neighbour. He's a big fan of old and forged stuff so he really liked it. It's made of 10mm square bars. measurements: width 80 cm height 26 cm depth 44 cm Any criticism is welcome :) Hes name is Ramses :)
  3. Thanks guys! I really appreciate it ;D it really does look nasty and dangerous, doesn't it? :D
  4. Thank you for your responses. Gene, I did spent a lot of time hand stiching the sheath, I started making the sheath 9 pm and finished it 4 am Curly, thanks for the response Actually it's not my first knife, It's my very first bowie iv'e ever made I have forged about 5 knives this far. I really did learn from the experience and no doubt in the future I will make my knives better. Thanks, Kaspar
  5. Hey everybody! Merry Christmas to all of you Here it is, my first Bowie and a sheath for it. Took me about 4 days. I really enjoyed forging it. I didn't want to make it all shiny, I liked it this way. Looks cool in my opinion. Anyway what do you guys think? sorry for the bad quality Kaspar
  6. hey jaiacosm jup, im having the same problem. Just keep it away from water There are some liquids, that keep the rust away, i don't think they cost very much. I haven't tried it though. good luck with that anyway and thanks :)
  7. It's a common mistake in the internet community Anyway, yes, i know that now, I thought that i need to heat the peace to a very high temp. and then let it cool down to the right temp and then immerse it in the water. Wont make that mistake again At the moment I'm using coal, but at that time when i was forging that kukri, I used charcoal. Thank you for your responses :)
  8. Thanx MetalMuncher! I really appreciate it :)
  9. Thnx m8, sorry, i have been far away from home for some time now, and i haven't had a chance to measure the knife... its guite long and heavy imo Thank you! It's a reflection, I have no idea how to temper a blade so it would become purple Thnx m8, the shape was even better before i messed up -edit- forgot to put up other pics my first knife. erm, maybe a throwing knife with a handle. Made of lawn mowers blade Don't mind the boobs there it's my mouse mat RR spike.
  10. Hi everybody! My name is Kaspar i'm 19 and I live in Estonia. I'm really into blacksmithing and especially knife forging. So far I've forged 3 knives. I just finished my 3rd one and i decided to show you guys. I wanted to make a Kukri, cause i like the shape very much. So, I had a leafspring rusting in my back yard and i decided to make a knife out of it =) Took me two and a half days to finish it. The shape was a bit different at the beginnig, but i messed up with heat treating it( when i was heating it up, i went too far and the edge melted a bit :S.. ye i no, stupid right?) But i think it still looks like a Kukri so what do you think?
