    Buffalo Blower #625

You won't ever find any replacement gears (unless you want them built from a print at $200 each), I tried for 6 months. So it's good you are handy with welding and files.
  2. Thanks Jreed, it's what I had on hand at the time. In afterthought I should have had the pipe welded flush with a corner than offset by an inch, better hitting that way. I have to remember to move the work in toward the center to get more mass under it. We'll see!
  3. Here's my starter anvil, an 8"x8"x2" 40 lb mild steel block welded to a 3" pipe (4' long) filled with concrete and sunk to height, weighs about 90 lbs, used with my Lively-style charcoal forge. It seems to work......Also have a 90 lb PW to set up when I cut up that log, to use with a coal forge.
  4. Buy an extension piece from your local plumbing/big store shop that'll fit the blower exit and as long as you need to mate with the table. PVC would maybe work.
  5. JB WELD here I come! It might work..The company wants $250 for newly machined gears. Dont know if that includes the shafts and cogs. If anyone has a junker with good gears, I'm in...........
  6. Same seller on ebay just put another up. Looks like bearings in there too. Mine has grease in it, not oil as I had heard.
  7. Thanks guys! I am in contact with the company as it is now. There is a flat spot of about 5 teeth on the main gear that is attached to the crank handle. It gives a slip when it meshes with the second gear. Not really a biggie but I'd like it to not be there. Yes, the spacers can be used, they looked really bad til I cleaned them up and dried them off. With some white lithium grease the runs very well, puts out good air, but that little slip is annoying.
  8. Has anyone rebuilt a BuffCo crank blower? Can the spacers be re-used? Any source for replacement gears? Thanks!
  9. I'm as new as can be to forgeing and would like to get ideas, advice, check out forge setups in the local area.
  10. Been intrigued by blacksmith work in movies, RenFests and Rendezvous for years and then I saw the Lively's dvd on knifemaking. That set the hook firmly. No turning back now...hope it'll be a nice retirement hobby also, should I get there someday!
