It's up and ready, with the tray I fab up yesterday. I did not want the tray larger than the base of the stand.... one less thing to run into.
-
I just unscrewed it and cleaned it all up. It was not in bad shape. I did use some PB Blaster when I put it back together.

Thanks guys !! I now have it spinning with two fingers !!!

I have 6 tools on these drums, And yes they like to crack. On this I turned up the to heat to 1/2 and let her rip... so far no pinging... The first one I did was for a bench vise using a Hobart 140 welder.... I think I can still hear. the pinging now. I need to fab up a tray soon In 2017 I am going to put a lot of time in to learning this art of Black Smithing .

When I open the vise it is tight ( it does not spin fast like a bench vise at all ) until it gets to about 3 to 4 " open. You can see the piece just past the handle in front of the jaw, it will spin when the vise is open about 3". This is my first post vise and all and all it is clean and straight, it just is tight to open. I am going to fab up a tray in the next few days.

Buying coal
Thats Hot... replied to Steve Meyer's topic in Solid Fuels: Coal, Coke, Charcoal, Wood, etc
I can see in the pict. Glenn posted, that I have been using my fire wrong from day one, I will have to change the way I have been working the forge (fire) I have been keeping my coal even with the top of the rotor, and my metal going down to the bottom of the drum. -
The switch idea is the best part of this forge for me. It's one less time to bend over..

Nice job.. this will work well for you. Here is my forge, so far it has worked great. And then I have another grill frame to fab up another forge.

Go with something like this...weld up a stand and fill it with sand. I added the side trays this past week.

School me on Hardy hole size.
Thats Hot... replied to Thats Hot...'s topic in Anvils, Swage Blocks, and Mandrels
Thanks for all the help, I was thinking on the same line as arkie, -
The hardy hole on my HB anvil is just about 1 1/8" ... When I put a 1" sq.tube in the hole ( there is some play from side to side ) I have room for a very tight 1 1/8" I am going to make some tools and or pick some up. How tight should the shank be in the hole ?

Rings on your anvil stand
Thats Hot... replied to matto's topic in Stands for Anvils, Swage Blocks, etc
I move mine from time to time, and I did not won't the rings in the way. So I made two of these up. next will be a removable swing out tray like Jakesshop. -

I was going to install an air flow damper at the Tee, and I got to thinking about the hand crank blower. No crank..... No air.... hummm. No more bending over to shut off the blower.. just flip the switch. I did get the twist on each of these spikes to look about the same. These will be wine bottle holders. I just need to clean up the spikes with a wire wheel and then weld them up.
