  1. Well I was going to entitle this Continuing Problems with my Nuts but thought better of it. Well After all the adjustments I did and then the Assembly falling off the FlyWheel and fixing that. the End nuts on the Toggle Arms keep loosening and falling off no mater how tight I put them on. Anyone else have this happen?
  2. Take a look at the local Clay Art Suppliers thats where I get mine from and the price is ok. Therre is also.. http://www.lmine.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=LMS&Product_Code=17100-55&Category_Code=flux_components its a large amount but its about a buck a pound.
  3. Had a mishap after doing it.....the nut wasnt tight enough and the while assembly fell off just as I started using it. SO after much cursing and trying different ways to get it back on I finally did and made it as tight as I could...live and learn I suppose
  4. I posted a harsh reply about zinc on the blade forum and had people obviously start telling me to shut up that Zinc aint all that dangerous. Post edited and the Link removed at the request of Anvilfire.
  5. NEVER EVER EVER PUT GALVANIZED STEEL INTO THE FIRE, unless you WANNA DIE. Galvanized steel heated gives off Zinc Gas which is Poisonous and will kill you if you breath in enough of it. Sorry for the Caps but I cannot strongly enough emphasize that as a NO NO me
  6. Does it take 2 folks to adjust this? Because I thought I have to have someone to use the arm tool to pull over the Flywheel to take the tension off the toggle arm. to adjust the Pittman? Well what led to this was, a end nut falling off the toggle link in mid hammering so I shut the machine off and tightened both sides up. and the result of this was my hammer moving faster not slow and hard like I like so..... Not having had to adjust this before kinda why I am askin. Thanks Me

  10. From my reading and talking to various smiths who have experience doing it, the japanese do something similar using charcoal , They can either raise or lower the carbon content in the steels that they use for knife and sword making. It just depends on where the steel is placed in the fire in relation to the charcoal and air flow.
  11. It got side tracked for a while then I got back to filing on it a couple weeks ago, then I noticed there is a nice bend and twist in the end that I gotta remove, probably will stick it back in the fire to fix then start the filing all over again, its a process and steve knows it I mean ya I could the filing with a hand grinder but it just doesnt feel right so....probably fire it again this weekend and try and fix it and go back to filing.
  12. He always seemed to be in good spirits when I came by to see you, and that is the way I will remember him, if you need anything just let me know I will do what I can for you and your family.
  13. Larry I am so sorry, I wish you and your family well and are in my prayers, if there is anything I can do let me know.
  14. Hehehehe I figured since I saw someone posting the one I have for sale Ill show the other 2 I have as well. I am only selling the round one because I really cant foresee using that one and its taking up a decent chunk of space in my tent. The one on the right is the one I mainly use right now, though I did use the other briefly and probably will again soon as I can get at it more easily.
