  1. Hello All, I just bought a Peter Wright Anvil, ~120#. From looking at the Hardy hol, the opening is 1", but the diameter tapers as it goes into the anvil (~7/8-15/16"). My 1" square tubing will not fit and my 3/4' square bar is too small. Is this a standard 1" hardy hole or do I need to get special tapered hardy tools? Thanks in advance. Todd
  2. xxxx, that's got character; VERY cool! Thanks for sharing.
  3. Looks like someone out did Mother Nature on this one!
  4. Thanks for the input and compliments. I VERY much appreciate the honesty of strangers. One thing's for sure, I don't have to try to get the "rustic" look (LOL). The level of skill to: 1)DO what you want and then... 2) do it well, will forever keep me challenged. As you get better, the projects naturally get more challenging. Regarding the off axis of North vs. the roof ridge, this is intentional since the roof ridge itself is off (good eye!). However, the weathvane will come with the disclaimer "not for navigational purposes". ;^) MH
  5. My first post.. Alas, the annual problem; what to get my parents for their respective Birthdays. Having started the Smithing last Fall, I finally have a new asset to draw from. I made the weathervane for pops and a coat rack for the momma. While I like the weathervane the best, I am really starting to get in the wood-forging groove. The coat rack board was donated by a dear old cherry tree that grew and died (natural causes) in our backyard. Regardless, both gifts are from the heart and soul. Enjoy....
  6. Very nice work; but I'm REALLY jealous about the hoist on wheels! I could get some serious materials and projects going with that.
