Dave Parker Posted March 18, 2015 Inside view of my new hot weather smithy. It is in line with a creek that helps cool any breeze that comes my way. Quote Link to comment
ianinsa Posted March 18, 2015 There looks to be something wrong with that floor "too clean" I think! Nice looking setup. Quote Link to comment
Frosty Posted March 18, 2015 Yeah, Ian's right it's too clean! Don't worry that's a self correcting problem, we won't hold it against you. How many stations are you planning on?Working with anvils that close together I like pointing the horns at each other it keeps folk from running into one moving around. Sometimes you need to move quickly and pocking your leg into a horn can leave you limping. Hanging a couple pull blinds so you can make a shaded corner might be handy too.Beautiful place you have there, I like it.Frosty The Lucky. Quote Link to comment
Dave Parker Posted March 18, 2015 Thanks for the kind words. No worries, I will make sure I get the floor dirty. Thanks for the tips Frosty but you are looking at one quarter of it. Things can be moved around to use more than one forge. Right now there are three and I have another building just out of sight with another work station all set up. This is building two. I enclosed a carport and discovered that it was way to hot to use except on colder days. Five windows and two large doors later, I can use it but not in the summer. My solution was a second carport with open sides, The shade idea is a good one and I may use it on the other side. The sun never hits that corner. Also not seen is the creek, I often get a cool breeze coming off the water. The fishing is good also (slows down my work, lol). I plan to work for a few weeks before I decide on where everything will finally rest. Usually, I work alone but on occasion company comes along and this will allow more than one smith to work.
