I don't know where this firesteels came from but i'm pretty sure they are not from roman era. I visited lots of museum in Italy and I have some catalogues and there are no firesteels like them. There are lots of XVIII and XIX century firesteels with the same shape and I think that also them come from that period.

Those look like purchases I have made from Ukraine.  These are described as Viking fire strikers from the 9th to 13th century. I suppose it's entirely possible some could be Roman as the Vikings often settled on Roman sites, and modern detectors could dig either one up easily.
