The Genesee region will be hosting the NYSDB Spring All-Hands event this year at the Arc and Flame Center. We are excited to have Lisa Lofdahl of LLMetalworks as our demonstrator for both days. Coffee, doughnuts, and meals are included in the registration fee** and will be provided for both days. Folks are welcome to bring a dish and/or a dessert if they wish.

The rough schedule for both days is as follows:

Saturday:

  • 8am: Registration, Coffee, Doughnuts
  • 9:30am: Introductions
  • 10am: Lisa Lofdahl demonstration
  • 12pm: Lunch & other NYSDB business
  • 1pm: Iron in the Hat & (potentially) an Auction
  • 2pm: Lisa Continues
  • 6pm: Dinner
  • 7pm: Open forging 

Sunday:

  • 9am: Coffee and Donuts
  • 10am: Lisa Lofdahl demonstration
  • 12pm: Lunch
  • 1pm: Possible open forging followed by clean up

Every member should try to bring a set of tools to participate in the hands on demo, i.e. hammer and tongs. Personal Safety equipment is required at meetings, and includes eye, ear, and hand protection.

All are welcome at our meetings. Any interested individuals may visit two regional monthly meetings for free. If anyone wishes to continue beyond the two initial meetings they must join the New York State Designer Blacksmiths. There is membership and fee information available at www.nysdb.org/membership

We generally have a $5 meeting fee and Iron in the hat. Our meetings start with coffee around 8 am, a demo from 9-12, lunch, and then hands on work or more demonstrations from 1-4.
