I thought you would have a much easier time finding an anvil over there in England. I figured that they were every where. I guess that most got shipped to the new world as ballast on empty sailing ships. Then dumped on our East Coast as on the return voyage they used cargo for ballast instead.

Here is that Trenton that I was talking about. Broken in half at the waist and u-bolted together. Previous owner prepped it for weld repair but the guy helping him (whom I'm sure is in here as a member) moved back East. It's a real neat anvil, I would love to talk to the guy who started the repair as I have a couple of questions. Take care everyone...

There stealing bridge parts here! I can't believe the guy acted like nobody would want it. Try to find an anvil now days. I have heard that there is some video game out there that has all the kids hooked on blacksmithing and that is why they are hard to find. Hopefully soon their mothers will get tired of stubbing their toes and offer up for good price. I will keep an eye out here if that helps at all, they can keep the reward and use it for better tiedowns. Should be indoors anyway, sad.

I just spent 1150 on a 275lb PW on your favorite auction site. It was a recent listing I'm sure many of you saw it. I didn't have to pay shipping, he shipped for free to a local dock. That is the most that I have ever spent on anything with out looking at it first. I have yet to pick it up as it just got in on Friday afternoon. I hope that I got a real good deal on it. I couldn't tell from pics if it had been repaired or not. Now I'm into axe heads and let me tell you prices are all over the place. I just looked at one for fun today listed for $875 but it is a black raven by kelly and it is pristine. My wife says that she'd kill me if I even think about it. lol. I am not wealthy, quite the opposite really. I just had anvil fever and it was bad, kept me up at night. I could see how a seller could easily take advantage of a newbie like me who knows no better. Anvils, axes and hammers are my new weakness. I will be changing my user name as soon as I figure out how. I mean no disrespect to any PW fans. Hello Sir, would you still have that recipe by any chance? My anvil sweats even though I wipe it with WD40 still shows rust on the top plate. When I got her it was nice and shiny. Unfavorable wind conditions won't allow me to light my coal forge as much as I would like. I considered wiping her down with huberd's boot grease as it has beeswax in it. I just started laying a rag soaked with boiled linseed oil on it. So glad to finally got access to this site as I might have burned down my carport! Linseed no longer an option. My big anvil just showed up at the local shipping dock and want to take care of it the right way. I will be changing my user name in here just as soon as I figure out how to do it. I mean no disrespect to any PW fans. I am one myself. Best to you all and thanks for the great safety tip.

She is beautiful! What an awesome score and truly honorable the way you got her. I would take that co worker to lunch somewhere nice. I too had problems logging on to this site, have been trying for the last month and tried something different today and it worked. I already am getting great information here, and can't wait to learn more. Thanks for sharing.
