  1. I found the markings on the side: M&H ARMITAGE MOUSE HOLE 0.3.26 I did some research and its about 110# and from 1820-1835ish
  2. Thanks, I'll try to clean it next time i go out to my grandparents house.
  3. Thanks, I'm glad to be a part of it
  4. When I do a hammer test the hammer bounces up pretty high, I forgot to measure how high it bounced. It also rings so I'm pretty sure it's not a cast iron anvil.
  5. Haha, thanks, I just made a coal rake today out of rebar just to get the feel of it.. I'm already hooked on it. I got a bucket of #9 coal for free today, i couldnt find anything else, but hey it was free!
  6. Me and my papaw started on a forge about a week ago (I go out there a couple times a week) and this is what we've came up with out of the old pile of extra metal in the back. Tell me what y'all think about it, any improvements that should be made to it or tips for a new blacksmith. I'll have pictures up in a couple of minutes I have to use my phone to upload them since my iPad doesn't want to cooperate.
  7. Sorry I'm having trouble uploading a picture on here with my iPad...
  8. So a little background info on this anvil, it's been in my family for quite sometime (it's my papaws dads I belive) but I would like to know who made it or an approximate time of when it was made. As far as I know it has no markings on it (or at least any that I can see, I haven't cleaned it off or anything it's been sitting in the shop for as long as I remember).
