  1. My first working bottle opener out of rebar, turn into multi tool with a blade on the end, not sharp just enough for like a letter opener or something. Gonna give this to my father in law for father's day.don't have a vise, this is my first twist just using tongs and channel locks.
  2. Here's a wine holder that came up short haha, now it's a beer holder.
  3. Thanks for the info. I was mainly just curious if anyone would know anything about them. I saw it was in my town, so thought I would ask about it. Glad to find out they are usually soft, and no I don't need such a big one for anything, I would like a bigger one mine is pretty light but not necessarily that big and I sure ain't gonna spend no twelve hundred on that one. My martial arts teacher I just recently found out from him that he has an old post anvil at his shop, hopefully I can go by and see it one day and I can post some pics.
  4. So I've never seen an anvil pop up on my craigslist, and scrolling down I found this 410# bridge anvil, 410 lb bridge anvil, asking $1200 OBO in Odessa Never heard of them looks really cool and has a hardy hole and big weight. Does that seem like a reasonable price for sometHing like this? Wish it wasn't so expensive, would love to get ahold of this biggun'. What do you guys think of this anvil.
  5. First couple of attempts at bottle openers and a small blade held in front of the thumb. Earthworm looking opener is no bueno lol not right now atleast it breaks bottles the other one works but not perfect, the bladewill be for my pops to show his other Viking reenactment guys haha
  6. Went for some tongs last night, didn't work to to well but I got the basic design and process. The bar I was using was possibly to small for the length I wanted in the handle, it was worked a little too thin and I warped the jaw and the boss was off some to. Starting raining again surprisingly to. After I cut it off I noticed some warping happening in the forge by where the burners bolt in, I then saw the wool was ever so slightly not covering on one side by the burner ends. I'm sure that those new openings don't help with heat or longevity of the forge, easy fix? Can I just tear some wool off of an overlapping area and put it around the burners and stuff it in the warped areas New openings? I used a brick on the back door to changing its position multiple times to try and build more heat it only got a little more hot this time, achieving just a slightly brighter orange but still not where it should be. I still wonder if I have enough gas going to the forge, I've been keeping it around ten to eleven psig still, it seems like that's where it should be based off the flame is a nice blue and the breath is blue with pinkish orange tips.
  7. Thank you frosty, I really like the forge, but I was thinking closing or reducing the size of one or both doors, does it have to be fire brick or would some red brick suffice as a temporary fix, I heard they crack and sometimes kind of blow up with to much heat, I've never seen it but I wouldn't doubt it. Another thing sometimes it seems like sputtering of the burner like the flame cutting in and out, I think it might just be the string west Texas wind blowing through the holes near the burner tips, any ideas or does my thought sound like it has merit? I think I may try and make a chisel or punch tonight. Kind of rigged up a piece of channel iron with a plate welded to the end of it that has a hole I haven't tried it but I thought it might make a makeshift Pritchell hole and making a hot cut chisel because my anvil doesn't have a hardy hole either for hardy tools. Really need to make some long handle tongs to fight that dragons breath haha.
  8. Ready to get off work and fire that bad boy up. Guess I'll try raising up my floor brick and see if that helps with my heat issue, maybe close off the back a little.
  9. So i got a little time to fire up the forge today. Had a blast, i hope i have my flame right, i feel i have a hard time getting over an orange heat. On the smaller rebar bright orange darker yellow heat. On a larger piece of rod i had i could only get an orange heat. Maybe i didnt have enough gas going? Well unfortunately for some odd reason it started raining in the desert right now haha, so i shut her down for now only able to make a scroll it turned out decent, it came out really fast and nice im proud of it, i attempted some tongs on the rod but i was having a hard time with it not getting hot enough so it was difficult to forge im going to get some slightly smaller round bar to try that particular project again.
  10. I just fired it up for the first time, had a small leak but was fixed before the first fire, it seems to run strong, I played with some rebar for a second then shut it off. Only ran it about five minutes, according to the gauge I know it isn't that accurate but at 10psi it runs without sputtering.
  11. Yea I don't want to do exchanges, but they're are quite allot of places in town that refill, i just googled. I think it's 2.99a gallon I think, not 100 percent. And it's definitely not winter her in west Texas haha. So setting up my forge... Tank, then regulator, then hose and ball valve another hose to the forge? Does it matter where they sit like regulator directly on the tank or does it have to be away from the tank? I'm still not to familiar with working with pressurized gas this way, so o want to cover all my bases
  12. Thank you for the advice, ya I found a40 at home depot, and the truck stop down from my job refills propane tanks, not sure the price though
  13. Got it finally. Now I need a tank, some paste for the connections, I think I need a ball valve it only came with a regulator, hose, brick, blanket, and blowers.looks well built I can't wait to fire it up
  14. I absolutely love this, and odins horn just makes that much more beautiful. I want oneeeeeee!
