  1. Another thing I am looking to get a little more practice on is cross peening. The angle coming towards me is fine but then its hard for me I guess to make a consistent shape on the other side of the material I am working. I would really like to see a few projects made from a readily available material we have here in abundence here in the valley, Railroad Spikes. Like a kitchen knife, or a candle holder, or maybe even a door knocker. That would be fun.
  2. I personally want to apologize for not being there. I currently work in retail and weekends are kind of my busy time. Sundays are always free but I try to spend that time with my son, but I am sure he would love to see some cool stuff done with steel and fire. Is there something that everyone would like to learn or to do? I have been learning a lot about keeping good notes, sketches, and measurments for future projects. I also am very currious in forge welding, and the relationship of temperature to color and material. What are things others would like to learn? I think that planning WHAT we will learn or talk about will help to bring about better times and cohesion to the group as a whole. But that's from someone who hasn't been to any of the meetings though.
  3. I live in Palmer, and actually Mark you live on the same street my grandmother does and you knew my uncle Henry Adzesko.
  4. Hello I am new to this forum as well as to blacksmithing and have made time in my schedule to meet with you guys, but I am unsure of where to go and whether or not to bring any of my work with me. If you could hit me up on the forum or tell me another way to get in contact I will. Thank you for your kind attention Zak
  5. Hi fellows My name is Zak and I am VERY new to smithing. I have a great deal of knowledge and a great deal of humbleness in knowing that I know VERY LITTLE. I am looking to know when and where you guys get together to practice (is there a better term, I couldn't think of one) so I could learn and share some of my experiences with others. I am really excited to learn more, but am lacking in supplies and time. I live in an apartment in Anchorage's south side so doing my work here is a no go, but my mom in Palmer has lent me her garage, so at least I have a place to work from time to time. I am not interested in weapons or even knives right now, I am interested in learning to make CONSISTANT shapes and to produce work that can be repeated and sold. I would also love to learn to do repairs as well. Thank you gentlemen for your kind attention. Sincerly Zak Lockman
