Mark, I had a question about your book. I have posted it here. http://www.iforgeiron.com/forum/f7/why-swage-block-used-bottom-tools-asperys-book-15290/#post141521 Thanks for a great book, Doug

I noticed the huge hydraulic press you made. It looks like a very solid, simple construction. It does not look like you really needed to weld anything. Is that true for the frame? How much power does it have, and do you think you would make changes if you did another like it? thanks, Doug

Hi, This my first post. I have worked on a wood floor before, very easy on the feet and no real risk for fire as long as you keep track of hot cut offs. You may want to put down some cement board just to lay hot stuff on. I rarely quench, and just through stuff on the floor to cool. Also work on a dirt floor at Lincoln's New Salem. It is dirty and easy to loose dropped items, also need to level floor from tome to time. I would keep the wood floor and just make sure not to leave hot stuff on it. If it is a worry then cement board might be all that is needed in the forging area. Allen Ortery
