  1. here's my line shaft. I plan to expand it to run my drill press and lathe. One step at a time I reckon.
  2. I stretched out a cow hide for making snowshoe lacing, since then we haven't had enough snow for decent snowshoeing.
  3. here's abig screw from a house jack. I thought about making a monster vise one of these days.
  4. not the best photo but my only photo at this time. I have a bigger vise that I plan on anchoring to a post. the vise is mounted to a bench made from car frame. It was my granddads weling bench.
  5. topic is a little dated but citric acid is available in the canning section of most grocery stores.
  6. I've been reading that some guys use boric acid as a welding flux or as part of a flux mix. I needed to edit my info, after a little research I realized I mispoke. The wood preservative I spoke of originally isn't the same. I'm glad I caught it in time.
  7. I started hobby blacksmithing 35 years ago at my granddads shop. Played with it on and off over the years and finaly gotten a little more serious about it. My goal is to learn forge welding on a gas forge. I've had a little success with coal, very little. Part of the challenge is finding a good supply of good coal. Tomorrow I'm going to join Michigan artist blacksmith association. Nice forum !!
