Finished reading Jim (PawPaw) Wilson's "The Revolutionary Blacksmith" today. Cute short story.

About Me
Summer 2007, I finally decided to take up Blacksmithing as a hobby and creative outlet. Its something I've wanted to do all my life. So, I joined several local guilds and began attending meetings. They are great places to learn and make new friends. I signed up and took a 2-day beginner blacksmithing class at the Jacksonville Center in Floyd, VA with both of my sons - it was an absolute blast! I've surfed the web almost daily for info and tools. I've bought and borrowed books, and watched videos and DVD's, too. But with three teenagers, 2 in college and one in private school things have been pretty tough financially. So aquiring the space, equipment, and tools to put together a smithy of my own has been an extremely slow process. Especially the major items - forge and anvil. My son, Chris, and I drove up to Ohio to pick up the forge I bought (stole) on Ebay. I had to do a bit of restoration work to get it in shape. I bought my anvil from a tailgater at an ODBSA meeting for ~$2.00/lb and it cleaned up very nicely. While I continue to read books, attend meetings, and collect tools, I'm trying to build a sturdy (but still portable) work table to mount my vice on and hold tools.
