  1. Why not cut the nose off and drill and tap the end and make attachments. One of which would be the new tip. You could then make all kinds of fixtures to mount for different jobs. Stakes would be great with that much mass behind them.
  2. Cullman Forge is the closest to you. Meets on the 1st Sunday of the month at 9:00 AM at Peinhardt Farm in Cullman Forgemaster: Gary Kennamer (256) 247-0820 CullmanInfo@alaforge.org
  3. Find old wrought to use as filler material. You can also do this fill with a gas setup.
  4. The areas on Fedex is LTL (Less than a Truck Load) Freight. https://www.fedex.com/ratefinder/ltl?locale=en_US You need to know the freight class and NEVER pay list price for shipping. Discounts will be 60% or better typically. UPS also has a freight rate tool that does a default 60% discount. https://www.ups.com/uifs/create?loc=en_US&client=UIS&stcWarn=true (You will need an account) Also do not forget to add the weight of packing and pallet material. These can add almost 50lbs to a shipment. I like to use pallet wrap if you can get it becuase it helps make sure the stuff stays on the pallets All that said, just call these carriers Freight divisions and they are very glad to help out.
  5. I remembered these folks if you all are wanting replacement handles. http://www.tennesseehickoryproducts.com/productsHammers.shtml Dig around , they have a lot of handles.
  6. We call them lock washers. I bet that gets heavy !!

  9. Here is the rose I did for the meeting this month. This started out as a 1/2 inch x 18 Inch Round stock. Took about 10 different operations to get it into the rose. The length before it was rolled up was 34 inches. The project time on this rose was about 3 hours. We are doing a lot of good projects this year, so come on out and attend if you can !!!

  12. That aint the Loch Ness monsta is it ? :D about tree fiddy
  13. http://www.blacksmithing.org/Articles/ViewArticles.htm Try this link. It is not the search, but the articles seem to be there.
  14. Turn your anvil stand around or you will be tripping over that leg. I would just line the bottom of that forge with thin fire brick. You may also want to consider rotating everything 90 degrees and have your forge out in the middle of the space with the window to the right. This will let you pass long items through the forge and also keep you from messing up that paint on the tin. You will want a hood and I would straight stack it right out the top of the shop. http://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/30377-is-my-hood-to-tall/#entry311145 You could do it like this with or without a side draft intake Or like these in the pics (follow Lyle's link) http://www.iforgeiron.com/topic/27902-sue-and-elise-first-day-at-brians/#entry283989
