SmithyKoolAid
I recently purchased a Peter Wright wrought iron anvil and after we got it cleaned up we noticed two A's stamped on the feet under the horn. Would these be a makers mark or something along those lines?
Tubalcain2
'A ' stands for Anvil, obviously.
Marc1
I think that the worker who forged it would stamp it as in "another one made by andrew" Ah ah ... Notice the chisel test marks on the edge. What a nasty habit!
ThomasPowers
"The worker who forged it" they were forged by teams of workers and I doubt the teams were selected by what their name started with.
