Hi.  New member to the site from the Fox valley area in Wisconsin.

I'm looking for ideas & information.  I've done classic auto restoration, welding, fab, etc & I'd like to try blacksmithing.

I grew up on a farm & my dad had a forge & I remember watching him make some things on it.  Dad & the forge are long gone, but I'd like to get into it more than just being a spectator to it.

A relative has a forge (that hasn't been used in Many years) & some of the equipment, but I might build my own small forge & see what I can make.

Hello Will.  Thanks for the welcome!           I'm in Brillion, not too far from you.  If there are any others in the area that are into blacksmithing please let me know.  I'd be interested in seeing what they have made.

Oh yeah there are Wiscanders in the IFI gang, check out the local organizations section on the front page, it's near the bottom, many pages down.

I haven't been able to spend a lot of time on the forum yet,  & haven't found ^^that yet.

Could someone let me know how to find what Frosty referred to?  Thanks!

Thanks for the reply ^ Turbo7!       I appreciate it.

I've seen "groups", but I was more specifically looking for members  in my area or state at least (Wisconsin)

Maybe it's there somewhere & I just haven't found it.

The overall group would be UMBA Upper Midwest blacksmiths Association. What you're thinking of as local might be a different kettle of night crawlers, sort of depends on your definition of close but seeing as you said State, UMBA might be the ticket. Great bunch of guys and very active club.
