Solano
Hello all, I know there are alot of you well versed in anvil history. I got a picture from a friend who has this anvil of his grandfathers. And my friend is 70+ and is curious. Obviously its a Hay Budden. Can someone tell me any particulars of the history?
ThomasPowers
Well it will be stamped in pounds and there will be a serial number along the front of the front foot that will correlate with a date. (If it is readable)
John McPherson
69 pounds is what I read, but without the above noted numbers and pics of the face, all I can say is that it would make a dandy travel anvil.
njanvilman
HB anvil were made in Brooklyn, NY from the early 1890's to about 1930. According to AIA, they made over 250,000. They are a forged anvil, not cast. Considered a high quality anvil.
