I Forge Iron

Drop everything and run...

Recommended Posts

Greetings all.

Today while I was prepping my new 4 wheeler I decided to just take a peek at IFI..  Wow a PM from my friend the Frog Man for a heads up on a great looking anvil listed on CL..   Off to the races for yet another anvil chase..  45 miles from my shop through the boonies on a lake that I would never find again there it was just like the add said a sweet 181 lb Acme/HB.. Super nice man who never used it ..  1 1/2 hours later it was back to the shop with the beauty..    Today was a great day thanks to Black Frog.. I guess I will owe him a trillion beers and dinner at Quadstate...  What a guy!!!!!

Forge on and make beautiful things

Oh, and here I thought you were gonna buy for ME until we meet up at QS.... ;-)

Glad you could make it there in time, it wasn't gonna last long at that price..... I saw it within a few hours of it being posted.

I like finding deals for friends. :)

Aus, yes indeed it is!

Jim has been working up his agility and limberness for a lengthy time up to this point, even taking high level yoga classes in preparation, and now that he has an official ACME anvil he is finally qualified to do this. :)

Ha Ha. Love that Roadrunner.
Co-incidentally I had one of Jim's 'drop everything and run' days as well and it resulted in a new anvil for me. Albeit the 'running' was done by phone to the U.S. End result - a 300# anvil heading to Australia. I posted more about it in 'Anvils'.

That is a beautiful anvil and a sweet deal, great score Jim. I'm with Mike, having friends on the web has had astounding results for me, from meeting like minded metal head friends, meeting Deb, to    to . . . It just keeps on.

I'm honored and glad to know you all.

I have to agree with Treecatcher... both about Jim's anvil and about the internet friends. As an absolute novice in smithing and the other things this site covers/addresses, it IS an honor to be accepted by ya'll. And as an aside, smithing is helping me meet great people I wouldn't normally have encountered in my previously typical days. I recently met the vice president of ABANA, Mark Haddix, and was given an open invitation to come by one of his shops whenever our schedules will coincide enough to allow it.
