scotsman
I have spent a lot of time in trying to figure out the best deal to get coal. Right now it looks like a 50lb bag from www.centaurforge.com for $44.99 including shipping anywhere in the USA is the best deal. Does anyone know of a better deal or has experience dealing with Centaur.
Ridgewayforge
Where are you? You might ask local smiths and search local companies. Also sometimes blacksmith guilds will sell cheaply to members, you could join and get cheap coal. $50 for 50 lbs is NOT a good price, as far as I'm concerned. Chuck in Ms
Like the above post said just find a blacksmith group near you. I give $40 per hundred lbs and can get it in either Covington La or Lumberton Ms for that price. That seems high because I got it for $25 when I started. Dave Hammer
The last time I bought coal, I think I paid about $145 a ton from *** Green Valley Coal Co. (The old Lady H Mine) -- Leivasy, WV.. Call 304 846 8061.... I'm not sure this number is still good, but the coal is outstanding. Pick it up (they loaded) at the mine.
Old N Rusty
Glenn Conner sells coal, very good coal , a Lot cheaper than that! I heard Glenn has something to do over at IFORGEIRON . com , and might be contacted there.
freeman
$1 a pound is a horrible price for coal. Here in central NC Fred Pugh is selling fantastic smithing coal for $15 per 50lb bag.
Ricko13
What about in Canada? I was able get two 70lbs bags from a local store for 62.99$ a bag, anybody got other contacts that dont cost an arm and a leg in shipping in East Ontario? ThomasPowers
Best Coal I've used I buy at Quad-State; absolutely ruins the local stuff for me!

If I ever take a trip up north I will grab a couple tons with my truck and bring it back down here for thoes prices !
mailledemon
You kidding me? I can get coal for 8 cents a pound from an old blacksmith I know. He has six tons just sitting in the back yard. If you look around, I'm sure you can find a great deal.
48willys
Dave Hammer, Do you know if they sell smaller batches of coal at Green Valley Coal Co. I go through Summersville sometimes and would love to just stop and get like 100lbs just to try it.
Michael
xxxx I am paying too much for convenience. A 50 lb bag of Elkhorn is about $28 at Lazzari Fuels in Burlingame, near San Francisco. Which is a pleasant 10 minute drive from work. I have been told by an official at the Air Quality Management District (who tells everyone they can't light fireplace fires on clear high pressure days) that less than a half a TON of coal on my property is beneath their notice.
