		<title>Western Canada Blacksmith Guild Meeting</title>

		<description><![CDATA[<p>This is a monthly Guild meeting but is open to all interested, young and old alike.  The meeting place is at Leduc West Antique site in the Blacksmith shop.  If you are new to the craft or even experienced and would like to meet up with others come on out.  We start about 10:30am to about 2 - 4 pm, we also do a pot luck lunch.  If you have questions or need directions contact me (DennisG) and I will help as best I can.</p>

		<title>Fire, Forge and Hot Iron for Sculptors</title>

		<description><![CDATA[<p>Sculptor Frederic Crist returns to the Center for Metal Arts with a 2 day workshop <strong class='bbc'>March 20-21, 2010</strong>, to focus on use of traditional blacksmith techniques that can change up the creation and forging of sculpture. We will explore basic skills, process and tools to forge. <strong class='bbc'>Form and create individual and multiple pieces</strong>, as well as investigate different assembly processes, wedging, riveting, and mortise and tenon. We will explore the use of mass and line in developing ideas and direction in sculpture. <br />
<br />
Sculptor and innovative metal artisan Frederic Crist <span class='bbc_underline'>www.facristmetalsmith.com</span> was introduced to forging as a direct manipulation of metal under Jack Andrews at the Philadelphia College of Art, where he graduated with a BA in Sculpture. He became Head Blacksmith at the Samuel Yellin Metalworkers, <strong class='bbc'>legendary for its fine crafted architectural works</strong>, before opening his own sculpture studio in Waynesboro, VA. Fred’s classes always amp up the imagination and may even radically inspire your sculpture work. <br />

“Fire, Forge and Hot Iron for Sculptors”</strong> will be held in the fully equipped metal arts teaching studio of <strong class='bbc'>The Center for Metal Arts</strong>, 1 hour northwest of New York City. The workshop is $340 plus materials. Seating is limited for this hands-on workshop.<br />

The Center for Metal Arts is located in the picturesque farm village of Florida, in Orange County NY, about 1 hour upstate from New York City.<br />
