  1. Sorry, it was a quick "hey let me test the camera on my new phone" type moment. The hand crank is an Otto Canady Tiger and works great but for when I want a steady blast ie. burning coke (which i have still used the tiger for) i have a small mattress inflator that hangs on the bottom of the big blower. The tube off of the Tiger is the old intake tube for my car (before i supercharged it) and has bungs welded on for various vacuum hoses. So i got the idea to pipe the electric fan into this so i can use either instantly. The mic on this phone kinda makes it appear to be louder than it really is and the fact that is is next to a wall.
  2. I had the same issue with the fire wanting to stay right along the back. I just pushed my pipe in a bit past the brick and covered it with my clay mix tapered up to the top of the back wall. I get a nice bed of burning coke with the heart in the center now with either my hand crank or my little electric inflator
  3. Greetings everyone, figured I'd show off my little JABOD that Charles and JHCC inspired me to build. Had to sell most of my stuff last year due to financial issues but I'm liking this set up over the big bottom blast I used to have. Any suggestions or feedback is welcome! 20180726_185121.mp4
  4. If you happen to come through Memphis check out the Metal Museum downtown on the river. They generally don't alow the public to use the shop but it is still a fun place to visit.
  5. Hi all, I'm Josh. I live in Bartlett, TN and am new to the blacksmithing scene. I have always been interested in woodworking and forging since I was little. I finally have the little shop and "understanding neighbors" to start working with hot metal. I was recently informed of a small unclaimed inheritance and have ordered a forge and 100 lbs of smithing coal along with a 275 lb anvil. I know I should have built my own forge but I figure I can expand on this one if needed. I am very open to any suggestions and have been looking for a local Abana chapter but the River City Forge Guild has been dissolved. I do plan on taking some classes at the local metal musem also to get some hands on on proper technique. Sorry for the long winded post, haha.
