  1. Just this week I tried soaking head in antifreeze, I read somewhere (probably here) that it does not evaporate and snugs up real nice and tight . Makes sence to me so I tried it , we shal see.
  2. Thanks for the reply , it's always harder to type what I mean than to speak and mime what I mean. I was all set to make changes, just to make it the same as most the others.
  3. i have run up to 15 psi but i will try more i guess my question was regarding the orientation of my burner in the chamber it points upwards toward the ceiling. unlike most i have seen which point at the floor. here is a photo worth more words Job
  4. Sounds like I have boker , I have step on foot and weight on side. Thanks
  5. Used ones are worth more than new ones. Btw I'm a new one
  6. Is there any foolproof way to tell the difference between a boker Trenton and a us Trenton?
  7. Helps me , I just got a small single burner. Homemade and second hand . I am doing some tooning. The odd thing about mine is the flame points at the ceiling, is that wrong or just different?
  8. My 165 lb Trenton is marked 165. But I don't know it's country of origin.
  9. alright thanks guys. the main reason i ask is i dont like the grain of the handle in the last 6 inches on the working end, and would like to get rid of that first. we sahll see what i come up with.
  10. brian, what it the height of your striking anvil?
  11. i bought a 8 lb sledge with no handle. gonna fix that, but how long should it be? im 6ft 4, but the handle i purchased seems to long. whats the rule? thanks Job

    spotted flypress

today i was in berkley ca and spotted a flypress for sale at omega salvage, it seemed to be in working order. the tag sayd $475. it was on its side on a pallet so i could not make it move. it seemed to have about an 8 inch throw and maybe 14-16inches wide . it seemed to have fast threads ... at least 2 inches per turn. it had an H shape to it the whole unit was probobly 3 foot by 3foot with weights in the neiborhood of 8 lbs each. anyhow i thought i would pass the word along, as i do not have space or skill to use one
  13. i made mine almost the same way. except i slit and drifted the plate then installed it hot on the shaft, it shrunk up real snug. had to make do with out the welds. by the way your is much cleaner.
  14. i have also seen evidence of cuts made with cold chisel then snapped, as described above. although i have never seen it done
