how did u make the guard ? did u hammer it all out and ground the rest off

hello ironbudd, no... after forging the handle i start to forge the blade flat and stop somewhere around 5/16 then i just split it with a chisel or cut it with a band saw, then forge out the blade with a fuller to push the material one way or the other. nothing added, nothing taken away. happy forging jim c
