Progress On The Site
Last month we announced I Forge Iron was going to create an online encyclopedia for the craft of metalworking. This is an ambitious project we are currently working on. Rome was not built over night and we feel all good things take time. Until the encyclopedia is online we are making changes and improving the site with donations received and man hours on our end.
In no particular order or price, here is a list of what donation money has been used for:
1. Digital Recorder for Podcasting
2. Microphone for Stereo Recording
3. Podcasting software (x2)
- - To record the Skypecasts
- - To properly publish in the Podcast format
4. Server maintanence to prepare for the Encyclopedia
*Note: A podcast does not require an iPod. More specifically a 'Netcast' is a radioshow placed online for download.
Also, other things have been done recently to get ready for the new section:
1. The Forum and Chat had minor revisions
2. The Gallery was updated by a major release
- - Video uploads should work better
3. The Forum has been reorganized for a better layout. We're still working on it.
4. I went to Ripley, WV Saturday and recorded interviews for upcoming podcasts using the new equipment.
Not as major updates to the site:
1. Bill Epps has three new books for sale at the I Forge Iron Store
2. Richard Thibeau has four beautifully crafted hammers in the I Forge Iron Store.
We appreciate all who have donated time, thought, and energy into this wonderful community. There are many more changes before we introduce the encyclopedia. Some of these are frontpage changes while others are unsung in the background. Without the support of our users, a community near 1,000 members, our growth would have slowed.
Thank You,
Glenn
