Default New Site Guide Lines

The Blacksmith Forum is a family site. The standards are set high. You are expected to conduct yourselves as gentlemen and ladies. Your posts are to be civil, polite, and respectful of others and their opinions. There are to be no "bad words", no personal attacks, and it should be able to be read from the front of the church on Sunday with no one being embarrassed.

The site is a way to exchange information. You may question or comment as you wish within these guide lines. Additional guide lines may be added as needed, and additions made to the rules of registration, and any disclaimers as needed.

I charge each of you with assisting me in keeping the site a family site, a clean site, and operating within the guidelines set forth. I do not expect any problems, but if they were to occur, please contact me directly with your concerns.

Glenn

Glenn

Thanks for this site. I have learned more here than any other resource on the internet. I am very pleased with these guidelines and will do my part to uphold them.

How I see it is simple: if you don't like the rules of the game then don't play!

If you were invited into someone's home, or someone's business, would you be expected to conduct yourselves as gentlemen and ladies, to be civil, polite, and respectful of others and their opinions, and to not attack anyone personally?

This is YOUR home, and YOUR place for learning. If you answered yes to the question above, then it is how you expect others to conduct themselves already. It is only a rule if the expectations must be addressed and or enforced.

Everyone is invited to join us. Please make suggestions as how we can improved the site and make it better. Participate and make it YOUR home, YOUR place for learning.

An opinion from a forum member.

There has recently arisen a matter of concern to a couple of site members about their posts.

One I believe has arisen because his/her post was submitted after a thread was locked down and was probably deleted automatically by the forum software or should have been.

The other originates with a grievance over a word or words that were edited, but the site guidlines were violated and thus became a rule to be used.

I don't envy the ADMINISTRATOR or the MODERATORS in having to remedy these infractions of protocol, but they have a job to do and thankfully they are doing it to the best of their ability as they see fit for the benefit of us all.

Just an Old Blacksmiths 2¢ worth.

Glenn;
The site has matured wonderfully well.
What an enormous amount of work!
My hat off to you good Sir!

But, Glenn, aren't blacksmiths supposed to swear and spit a lot?
I've put years of earnest effort into my swearing and spitting technique!
How are future blacksmiths learn to properly swear and scratch their privates if we don't teach them?......Your friend, Clang

Clang, if I was looking for an excuse to give away blacksmithing, you have just provided it and I thank you. Sometime down the track I'm sure I will have had just about enough so I'll store your gem away for later use. In the mean time the next swearing spitting blacksmith I have the unfortunate chance to meet either in an inappropriate place...like on a family forum or elsewhere may well learn first hand how Capt'n Ahab's smith tempered his harpoon to slay old Moby Dick.
