Smile I Forge Iron 3.0

On the internet, a lot of people are claiming their websites are being upgraded by numbers. For simplicity, lets call this last update IFI 3.0 due to the massive updates.

This really was a Massive system overhaul. What does this include?

The New Template:
  • This template has been optimized for dial-up and low bandwidth users.
  • It sports a sleek stylish look and was made with the old 'Dot-net' blue in mind.
  • People can now change font size and width of the page to their personal preference.

The New Stuff:
  • Polls are now displayed on the front page.
  • Users now have better control over login on the front page.
  • NEWS FEEDS: RSS, ATOM, and OPDL News feeds have been added to the site. These work by sending informational news clippings to other sites or desktop news readers.
  • The Blog: All material will show up on the blog, people will get a hint of what's happening in all content areas. Example: Blueprints, Vulcan's Grill, Etc.
  • A better search.
  • Forum Calendar fixed.
  • Authors, Editors, Oh My: Selective users will be flagged as authors and editors allowing the creative process to hit warp speed. They will have a direct log in to make additions and changes to the site
  • Blacksmithing Store: The store will no longer require another login beyond the forum. Currently, the site only requires One Login for the Chat, Forum, Gallery, Editor/Author, Store and anything else.
  • Better URL's: The URL's are now content relevant. So instead of it being gibberish, blueprint names and numbers will be in the URL.
  • Language Translations: We are currently looking into manual translation for all pages.
  • The Podcasts will be up and in the official iTunes format. All old podcasts have been re-mastered.
  • Blueprints: Will be added into the new system, and new blueprints will be posted on an appropriate schedule. YOU MUST BE REGISTERED AND LOGGED IN TO VIEW ALL BLUEPRINTS!!!

There is a lot more. This list will grow, but it's more of a practice to show what has been done and things are being worked on. And no, we haven't forgotten about the Wiki (encyclopedia), we're currently working on integrating it to maintain the One-Login status of the site.

Dittos to the above. Since I have to keep good coal to run this CPU, appreciate the help for the slow 'puters.

I appreciate all the hard work.

This has become my #1 site, hands down.

Thanks again,

Don
