Default In a jam, I need help finding a new used beater.

Hay guys, I’m in a bind, I’m changing jobs and I need to get a car (I don’t have one personally that is daily drivable, I have a company car and a race car that dose not belong on the street). At any rate, I have been looking on several sites constantly waiting for something worth wile to pop up, but no luck so far (I have gone and looked at 6 cars in the last week alone and no dice). So let me tall you want I’m looking for and if you happen to live in the New England aria and are driving about and see something maybe you can drop me a line, please.

- I need a car that will run for *K to 10K miles, mostly highway before it dies and it needs to do so on a min of tinkering.

- It must cost less than $1500, but I would be elated if I can get it under $1000.

- It must be registerable (no tidal is fine if it has a registration and a bill of sale) and must pass a MA state safety inspection, I don’t care if it fails emissions.

- I would proffer a manual gear box with a survivable clutch, but will take an auto if it is in good working order (Manual at any miles, Auto hast to be low miles).

- It needs to be able to do 70mph comfortably.

- It must get at least 24mpg fuel econ for it to be economical for me to own.

- I do not care what it looks like or who it is made by as long as it meets my needs.

Basically I drive 120 miles a day round trip to work, 98% highway. I will be working 7 days a week 10hrs a day (not including my drive) and will not have time to fiddle with it every morning to keep it running. It only hast to last me 2 to 3 months until I can afford to buy something worth really owning or pay to fix it up. Brand is completely irrelevant as long as it meets my stated needs. I’m looking for something like a 80’s Corolla, or a beat up Golf, but not like a buick V8…. Think, one of thaws cars you would drive for one season and trash when you where done. So far I have looked at a wide range and the biggest thing I’m seeing that is stopping me is pretty much motors duck taped and bubblegumed back together, I have also seen missing locks and several cars I have traveled 2 hrs round trip to see that would not start when I got there even though the owners said the where in grate mechanical shape. Basically, no car means no new job and that would leave me basically in a really bad spot, any help is more than welcome.

Thank you.

GLK

PS:

I already search, Craigslist for the 11 arias closest arias, Autotrader and Cars on a reg basis, I’m really looking to know if you guys have something or if some one down your street has something with a for sale sign on it that might not be on the web. Please don’t bother posting “Just search on line”.
