This is my first post, so I'd like to say hi to ya'll. This thread actually drew me here and I'd like to see if I can get in on this order as well. A 3 F is what I need. I'm interested in all sorts of blacksmithing. My oldest son (15) is leaning this way too. So I think this hammer will be a good investment for both of us.

Are the Forged hammers made by Hofi himself, or by apprentices and employees? I'm interested, though I'll have to get back to you on size of hammer. I'm guessing I missed round two? Let me know if I still have time to get in on this order. Thanks! BTW, my first post here. Hi all.

MadHatter
I contacted Hofi and got the following reply to your question.

Quote:
I forge the hammers mostly alone, some times one or two of my students, that are studying with me now 13 years, are helping me. The grinding, the heat treatment, the final fine grinding, the handling, and the hrc test is done solely by me.

The cast hammers are cast in a casting factory but every one, I repeat every one, is tested and then the final grinding, and handled, is done by me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glenn - if not too late I'll take a 3c. If too late that's fine.

A round of thanks to Glenn for all of the effort this takes. Ever get a call from Glenn? what a pleasure. I have talked to him twice and on each call I got about two oral blueprints- and his enthusiasm is unbounded. He knows some stuff about caring for and enjoying the blessings of Man's Best Friend, too. A round of thanks, please! I have a feeling without Glenn to run interference, Hofi might well get frustrated with rookies like me. Glenn is kind enough to suffer the fools like me. Just Ole' Mike

Sorry Glenn, messed up the thumbnail re-size. For a good laugh, google "Pack of Angry Chihuahuas"-- these are shop/forge security.Mike
