Exclamation New Class Offering

I am pleased to announce the formation of a new Blacksmithing School here on iforgiron! What better place to make an exclusive announcement than on such a top quality forum that is focused on the education and furthering of this wonderful trade!!!

Yesteryear School of Blacksmithing
“Where traditions are forged with timeless skill.”
1918 West Virginia Avenue Crewe Virginia 23930

This school is just getting off the ground and has already begun to enroll students into one of its upcoming classes:

“Basic tool making and Treadle Hammer techniques”
With Mark & Mindy Gardner August 18-22 2008

This 5 day course will focus on the fundamentals of forging and using the tools needed to learn the techniques of Chasing and Repoussé on steel using a treadle hammer. You will begin your journey by learning the fundamentals and forging your own set of tools out of S7 tool steel. You will then tackle a series of projects ranging from a leaf to a feather; then ultimately onto designing your own steel medallion. You will not only learn the techniques needed to use the treadle hammer and tools, but you will also have an opportunity to use heat to color your projects to add that essential touch of life to your work. This class is perfect for the beginner up to the advanced smith. You will leave with the pride and knowledge to enjoy this art form for years to come.

TUITION: $225.00 per student
The tuition covers the class cost and materials used in the 5 day course! This is a special low cost rate to open this opportunity up and make it affordable for everyone!!! There are only 10-12 openings for the class!

This course usually costs twice as much at other schools in the country. This is a one time offer to make this opportunity affordable to everyone!

Sounds great Peyton. Too bad I'll be at Penland attending the Mark Aspery course on leaf and organic forms.
Hope there's more class to come.

Chris.
We are hard at work preparing a course for the end of July. This is still in the works and will be announced very soon.

There will be a website soon as well with a full listing of class offerings. We wanted to get the word out as soon as possible for everyone to make plans to attend.

....Chris just play sick for a week! Besides this is school too....just a different type! :-)

Yesteryear School of Blacksmithing is seperate from the guild.

And yes all are always welcome to ANY and all class offerings. The only chance we have to learn something new is to try. And trying is the first step towards success!

Gerald. There will be more offerings coming very soon!!!

This price is the lowest I think you will ever see for a class with such amazing instructors and artist smiths. Mindy had an ornament she made chosen to reside on the Christmas Tree in the White House recently.

They will also have their Treadle Hammers for sale, and tool sets for sale as well.

Weston's Motel is less than a mile up the road. It is around $45 USD a night and there is a good restaurant that serves great meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). It is a perfect place. You do not have to drive far for rest and food. It is all in sight from the school.

I am beginning to get some interest in these empty spots I still have open. DON NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE! This is a once in a lifetime shot to take a 500+ dollar class for less than half the price, but still 100% the quality!
