Thumbs up

Tyler,

Very nice hawk! Did you grind the points of the rasp off before working it? I plan on making one of these or similiar to it. I have an old rasp, just need to know whether to grind or not. Anyway, awesome job!!

Looks good, I have a dozen or so farriers rasps and I need to give it a try. In the past I just used mild steel for the body with a piece of high carbon welded in for a cutting edge.

I like the pattern that the rasp gives, but always worried about whether to grind the teeth or not. I'll try it your way with out grinding.

Steve

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was gonna be a recipe (Grilled Hawk). I haven't found a good recipe for chicken hawks yet.

Seriously though, Tyler very nice job.

Tyler,

Nice hawk. A question, how did you forge the hawk? Is it welded only at the eye, like a froe, or did you weld it the full length of the blade , like you would if you were going to weld in a bit in a low carbon hatchet?

Also, how did you lay out the burning on the handle? It was a nice touch.
