I may be picking up a Chambersburg Model L hammer, probably 750 lb. to 1000 lb. size. I'm looking for plans or specs. for the foundation.I understand it is built up with timbers but how deep, sizes, whats under the timbers etc. Thanks |

Rick: I am an admirer of yours on the Practical Machinist. I think you met my brother, Steve Thomas? So I know what serious-sized stuff you deal with. I just emailed a very good working industrial smith in IL to come check out your question. He checks his mail late at home and hopefully will be along here tonight. |

Rick: look over at Anvilfire.com. In the Guru's Den forum, someone is offering a model L with installation istructions currently owned by a high school. Possibly you could get a copy of those instructions.

I have the 11th edition of the machinery's handbook. It has plans and specs for hammer foundations. That one will be pretty substantial. If you are still looking I can dig it out and give you the secs. OH WOW. This is an old thread.....
