Question Commercial Flux's

Ill be honest, Ive never used a commercial flux befor. Ive always used borax. Is there really that much of a difference in commercial flux's compared to borax? Thanks

I use borax mainly because I usually weld carbon steel and like it better for that purpose. When I do just weld mild I use ez weld and really like the results it gives but there again I have used borax numerous times on mild. It is probably a matter of opinion and what your use to.

I have always just used borax and never had any problems, plus it is readily available from the grocery store when I need it.

Try a couple for yourself and see. I would suggest EZ weld and Swans flux both are readily availeable at horseshoeing suppliers. Everyone that has tried Swans including myself say it is the best. But you will only find out if you try several. (Swans is also pricey)
